CRICKET ACADEMY
MAINTAINING A COMPETITIVE EDGE
The Solihull College & University Centre Cricket Academy is run in partnership with Complete Cricket for young athletes who wish to progress within the professional game.
Students who are part of the academy will benefit from 10 hours of cricket based activity which is supplied by Complete Cricket. All coaches who work for Complete Cricket are at least ECB Level 2 qualified and some even have professional experience, including Jim Troughton, Darren Maddy and Dominic Ostler.
Students will also be studying towards 2 coaching qualifications including a Coach Support Worker qualification and will be taught by those who have experience within the sporting industry. The cricket academy aims to hone the talents and skills of those who participate and improve fitness and knowledge of the game to allow students to progress within the industry.
If you would like more information on the cricket academy please contact Head of School for Sport Phil Trilloe via email: Philip.trilloe@solihull.ac.uk
APPLYING FOR A COURSE
To enrol on the Cricket Academy you must be studying as part of our ‘Technical Diploma in Sport Level 2’ or ‘Sport & Exercise Science Level 3’. If you wish to participate but don’t have the necessary qualifications to enrol on the course initially, there are a number of routes the College offers to allow you to gain access academically.
OUR FACILITIES
Solihull College & University Centre has state-of-the-art health and fitness facilities, available for use to anyone across the campus. These are designed to maintain and enhance the athleticism and fitness levels of all our prospective students whether in the Academy, on our sports courses or just those taking part for personal leisure.
The Blossomfield Campus sports hall has a modern, recently refurbished gym, with brand new treadmills, cross trainers, bikes, rowing machines, weights and more, allowing those wanting to achieve peak physical fitness to do so, on site. The Academy will use the facilities within the training programme.
The College offers a Student Athlete Scheme in which students will be given access to free gym membership, free physio sessions, free training schemes and free college sports wear. In return for this we expect those in the scheme to attend some open days and apply themselves with role model behaviour for parents and prospective students.
